The T is an excellent CPU no doubt. Even the new A Llano is faster than the T. For most general work you wont "see" any performance boost till you use some program that can make a processor "sweat"!

Both are the same price on Newegg, but here's my personal dilemma.

Any advice would be great! Doesn't that mean something? The Phenom 2 x6 outperforms the i5 when both are at stock clocks. The X6 is also very highly overclockable, even with only air cooling you can get it up to around 3.

That said, when both processors are overclocked to similar speeds, the X6 will still run circles around the i5, since it has a 2 physical core advantage. A six core processor is no slouch either when it comes to gaming -- more and more games nowadays support quad cores now, and in the future six cores are also possible.
